Better Than You: Let it Slide

This week's Better Than You features Taelia. Below is her challenge statement.

"Oh dear, there's a Snuffly that's trying to make his way down the mountain, but the local Gabars are blocking his way. I don't suppose you could lend the poor dear a hand?"

To beat him you must get 3,250 points in Let it Slide.

Prize is Snow Covered Bush for the 500 winners. Additionally, you get a Gold Trophy and 20,000 Neopoints if you are the first 10, Silver Trophy and 10,000 Neopoints if you are between the 11th and 50th, and a Bronze Trophy and 3,000 Neopoints if you are between 51st and 500th.

Good Luck to all and remember to comment and share your tips on this game to help other readers out.

PetPet Park in Beta Testing

Today I was able to get into PetPet Park beta, which is basically a more immersive Neopets revolving around PetPets instead of Neopets. It kind of reminds me of online game communities like Club Penguin and the now gone Virtual Magic Kingdom. It is a separate account with Petpet Points instead of Neopoints. There are about ten games to play in PetPet Park.

One of the ones I played was Blocktacular, which is a fun Destruct-o-match type game. You are supposed to get PetPet points from the games that you can then spend in the shops, however it seems like they do not actually update your point balance right away, as it kept saying 0 until I logged in again and ended up with my points. I guess it is still a little glitchy, but it is kind of a new different experience, however I think I still like the classic plain old Neopets better.

Anyways there still are some fun unique games to enjoy, though. One of those is PetPet Boogie, which is kind of like Dance Dance Revolution. This one seemed very laggy, though, and gets frustrating because of missing beats due to the lag issue.

Have you played in PetPet Park? Do you have a favorite game in PetPet Park?

Better Than You: Piper Panic

This week's Better Than You features Jub Zambra. Below is his challenge statement.

"Well, that show was a real hit... For those of you who didn't run away screaming, do you think you could turn that basket upright again and help us gather up all those Cobralls? Thanks!"

To beat him you must get 5,950 points in Piper Panic.

Prize is Golden Cobrall Shield for the 500 winners.

New Game: Snot Splatter

The newest game on Neopets is Snot Splatter. Not really sure what it is all about, but does seem Neopets is in a gross streak of games. The game currently has a glitch asking for a pop up log in when you try to play, so cannot say if it is any good yet. Will keep trying and hopefully remember to update this post or post a new post when it truly goes live.

Update: Friday, April 17, 2009: The game is now really live. It is an interesting strategy game of blowing up snot balls in patterns to get rid of all the snot balls before you run out of snot in your meter. The meter seems to refill when you cause snot blow up chain reactions. It is overall not hard to get the hang of. It is not entirely boring, but not all that exciting either. Perhaps will play occasionally, though.

Better Than You: Sophie's Stew

This week's Better Than You features Sophie. Below is her challenge statement.

To beat him you must get 650 points in Sophie's Stew.

Prize is Ixi Bandit Leg Wrappings for the 500 winners. Additionally, you get a Gold Trophy and 20,000 Neopoints if you are the first 10, Silver Trophy and 10,000 Neopoints if you are between the 11th and 50th, and a Bronze Trophy and 3,000 Neopoints if you are between 51st and 500th.

Game Guide and Review: Krawps

My last Game Guide and Review by id number was on Treasure Maps. The next game going in id number order is Krawps with an id number of 80. If you have a request for a guide on a specific Neopets game, then just comment on any of my game guide posts and I will put that on top of my list of games to review. When I do not have requests, then I will just continue going in order by id number.

Krawps

Okay, so this is not going to be much of a guide and more of just a review of my experience with this game. First off, I totally do not understand it and it kind of frustrates me just with its crappy instructions. I just find it confusing and I just do not have the patience for this odd gambling game. It seems like some Vegas style game that you probably will know how to play on Neopets if you have played the game at a casino and understand it, however, I just do not think these games belong on Neopets. Basically, I just will continue to avoid this game that I only knew existed because it popped up while I was going in order through the games by id number.

Feel free to comment and give a better explanation for this game to help others out if you are among those that understand it, as I would not be surprised if I am in the minority on not understanding it.

Game Guide and Review: Treasure Maps

My last Game Guide and Review by id number was on Sakhmet Solitaire. The next game going in id number order is Treasure Maps with an id number of 78. If you have a request for a guide on a specific Neopets game, then just comment on any of my game guide posts and I will put that on top of my list of games to review. When I do not have requests, then I will just continue going in order by id number.

Treasure Maps

Treasure Maps is not exactly what I would consider a game, but it does have a game id number type page. There are five types of maps to complete. Each map has nine pieces to find. You will sometimes get pieces as random events with the PetPet ones seeming to be the ones I get most often, but even those I do not get too regularly. You can also just buy them from user shops by searching the shop wizard, get them in auctions, and trade for them. I believe you can also get pieces in the Scorchy Slots game.

Four of the maps just give you Neopoint and item prizes. The Original Map gives you between 5,000 to 10,000 Neopoints and 3 or 4 very rare random items. The Spooky Map gives you between 5,000 to 10,000 Neopoints and random Spooky Food items. The Space Map gives you between 5,000 to 10,000 Neopoints, 3 or 4 very rare random items, and raises the level of one of your pets. The Underwater Map is retired, so pieces become rarer over time, but I believe you can still get prizes by putting it together. The prizes for it are between 5,000 to 10,000 Neopoints, aquatic food items, and raises the level of one of your pets.

The other two maps allow you to visit the two labs that change the stats, color, and/or species of Neopet/PetPet. The Secret Laboratory Map gives you permanent access to the Lab Ray that randomly alters your Neopet when you complete it. The Petpet Laboratory Map gives you permanent access to the PetPet Lab Ray that randomly alters your Neopet when you complete it.

My Top 5 Play Again and Again Neopets Games

Over the years I have enjoyed many of the Neopets games, but there are only a few that I like to go back and play regularly. There are some I like to rediscover every once in a while, but only a select few do I like to play every chance I get on Neopets. This is a countdown to my number one pick for a good play again and again Neopets game.

5. Scarab 21: This may not seem like much of an exciting game for most and well it is not, but for some reason I find it a relaxing distraction game. Plus, it is a good game I can slowly play while doing other things and it does not require my sole focus like flash games tend to.

4. Typing Terror: Another not exactly action packed game, but I really have like typing games since I had one on a palm pilot when I was a kid. It does at least have some actual challenge to it with it getting quite quick paced near the end.

3. Sutek's Tomb: As a puzzle game lover there is not much in terms of puzzle games that are good replay value on Neopets in my opinion, but this is the type of endless puzzle games I love and I enjoy coming back to it regularly.

2. Turmac Roll: Another sort of relaxing game, but it is a flash game. The controls are simple and that is a big thing for me, as I hate having to remember too many keys to hit and such, especially if it involves letter keys. This game keeps it simple by just relying on the arrow keys, although there are some hard obstacles to jump over correctly, especially the three stumps in a row.

1. Kass Basher: This is my top play again and again Neopets game because almost every time I play games on Neopets this is one that I play. The reason is not that I find it really fun, but that it is a real quick way to get 3,000 Neopoints for me.

Your favorite play again and again Neopets game on my list? I would love to hear what your play again and again favorites are on Neopets no matter how much you agree or disagree with my picks.

Game Guide and Review: Sakhmet Solitaire

My last Game Guide and Review by id number was on Brain Tree Quest. The next game going in id number order is Sakhmet Solitaire with an id number of 76. If you have a request for a guide on a specific Neopets game, then just comment on any of my game guide posts and I will put that on top of my list of games to review. When I do not have requests, then I will just continue going in order by id number.

Sakhmet Solitaire

Sahkmet Solitaire is basically just regular solitaire. The object of the game is to get all the cards stacked in order from Ace to King by suit. To help unlock cards in the draw pile and under the play stacks you move cards around to put in order from King to 2 with alternating colors (i.e. 9 goes on a 10 and a red must go on a black of the number above it, so a black 9 must go on a red 10).

It costs 50 Neopoints to play. You can choose to play with a draw pile of 1 or 3 at a time. With 1 at time you can only go through the pile once, but with 3 you can go through it three times. I prefer the 3 at a time, but really I find I have just as much of a chance of winning either way. Most of the time I do not win, but almost always I at least make my 50 Neopoints back. Thus it is not often a big Neopoint winning game, but it is not much of a losing one either.

Overall I find the Solitaire game kind of boring and I do not like that ever time you move a card it causes a refresh so that you then have to scroll down to seem the bottom of you in play stacks. Other computer versions are much less frustrating in this respect. I also feel that it used to work out fine, but since they changed the layout of Neopets with more up top it has caused the current issue that it was not designed to deal with anyways.
